First stage

The Goals

The aim of this Fortnite map is to seamlessly integrate medieval and fantasy elements within a vast open-world layout, elevating player engagement through a dynamic setting that accommodates multiple game modes, including team battles. The design incorporates both indoor and outdoor areas, enriching the gameplay experience with versatile strategies and hidden Easter eggs to discover.

The following elements were highlighted:

Vertical Mountain:Ascending mountain with multiple villages and roads that connect the entire map.

Secondary Areas:

The development of internal areas such as caves or the inside of each village home to increase the versatility of the map.

Second stage

Initial concept

The project's initial concept for the Faryngrove map in Fortnite started with the conceptualization of the environment and the style of the village.

After that the positions of the different area according to the various levels of the map.

Last phase was the brainstorm of details such as the "Fishing Mechanism on the lake", various Loot Chests and other interesting elements that would enhance the gameplay of this Fortnite map.

Third stage

Development

The development stage of the Fortnite map Faryngrove, in UEFN (Unreal Engine for Fortnite), started with the development of the basis of the island, followed by the creation of the main areas on the surface like the Village and roads layout and subsequently assets and elements on the exteriors and interiors, such as caves and inside of the houses, were developed.

Final stage

Delivery

After many weeks of work Metatheory Studio team is proud to have completed the development of Faryngrove map in Fortnite, hitting all of the targets that have been highlighted at the beginning of the project.

The development of the Faryngrove map in Fortnite commenced with an initial conceptual phase, focusing on defining the environment and the architectural style of the village. This stage involved imagining a setting that would integrate seamlessly with the Fortnite universe while introducing a unique, fantastical flair.

In the subsequent phase, the layout team carefully positioned different areas across the map, considering strategic gameplay implications.

The final stage of the project was dedicated to brainstorming and implementing detailed gameplay features. Key innovations included a "Fishing Mechanism on the Lake," which added a strategic resource-gathering component to the game. Loot Chests were distributed thoughtfully to promote exploration and reward players.

Third stage

Development

The development stage of the Fortnite map, Faryngrove, utilizing the Unreal Engine for Fortnite (UEFN), commenced with the foundational design of the island. This initial phase was dedicated to establishing the geographical layout and the core structural features that would form the basis of the game environment. Following this, the team moved on to the creation of the main areas on the island's surface, focusing on the Village and the intricate network of roads that would connect different sections of the map.

As the project progressed, attention shifted to the development of both exterior and interior elements, enriching the environment with detailed assets that added depth and realism.
